Abstract

Culture is a very broad concept, exquisite and applicable to many areas of life. But what happens when those who practice it as a profession are affected by its systematization? Depending on each local context this reality may vary. However in Cuenca (Ecuador) as well as in several other cities, there is a lack of attention towards the emerging sector: artists, cultural managers, art curators and prosumers in general. The life of the independent cultural worker is a constant flux between stability and instability, multiple employment, casual jobs and lack of opportunities; but a common denominator among cultural workers is their creative and resistance capacity, to raise their voices facing injustice and to act through art. The present work, concluded in the production of the Proyexis, cultural management for independent galleries and exhibitors manual, seeks to propose alternative forms of management, knowledge and action tools, rights bases and more as a response to the precariousness of art labors. This, starting from the investigation conducted and narrated in the present document: from an analysis of the local cultural situation, to a study of the chromatic used in the final product.
