Percepción de los participantes de la Organización Silueta sobre las relaciones interpersonales entre el grupo LGBTI y la población cuencana en la ciudad de Cuenca, durante el periodo 2021

Abstract

The objective of this research was to know the perception of the LGBTI population regarding the interpersonal relationships they maintain with the population of Cuenca in general, seen as a process to understand the sensations obtained from the physical and social environment and to identify their respective interpretations. Therefore, we sought to describe new information that has an impact on society about how interpersonal relationships are maintained among the LGBTI group; specifically from the SILUETA organization, which defends the rights of this population. The research was of a qualitative approach of a transversal descriptive type, so we had the participation of 9 people from the SILUETA organization, to whom a semi-structured interview was applied to know their perception as LGBTI population within the city of Cuenca. The results have allowed to know how are their interpersonal relationships with the population of Cuenca, belonging to the LGBTI collective, what became evident was that this population is discriminated against and rejected, for not fitting into the norms of heteronormative, which is reflected in the social and cultural context of the city of Cuenca. Likewise, heteronormativity affects the entire population, since they govern their coexistence based on these norms. Finally, based on the results obtained we can conclude that the LGBTI population perceives that Cuenca society is quite conservative and religious and although there are regulations that protect this population, it is still invisibilized, left aside and categorized as different.
