| Abstract: | Background: The Reverse Transcriptase Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR), a tool for important diagnosis in the detection of reciprocal translocations between chromosomes, which consists of using ribonucleic acid to generate multiple copies of a specific region through the enzyme Taq polymerase.
General objective: General Objective: To determine the prevalence of the BCR / ABL p210 fusion gene by means of the Reverse Transcriptase Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) technique in patients with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML).
Methodology: Methodology: The design of the research was observational, descriptive and retrospective, carried out from December 2013 to December 2017 and included a total of 121 patients with a diagnosis of CML. The results obtained were analyzed and tabulated with the software SPSS version 23.0 and Excel 2016; they are represented in tables and graphs.
Results: The prevalence of the BCR / ABL p210 fusion gene was 38.84% of which positive cases in the city of Cuenca were 24,79 %, male patients accounted for 30,58 % and 9,92 % made up the age group of 28- 37 years.
Conclusion: The patients with greater predisposition to the disease were the young adults of the male sex, the city of Cuenca presented the highest number of positive cases and the implementation of the RT-PCR technique was the highly sensitive in vitro diagnostic method for the detection of the gene of fusion BCR / ABL p210 |
| Description: | La Reacción en Cadena de la Polimerasa Transcriptasa Inversa (RT-PCR), constituye una herramienta de diagnóstico importante en la detección de las translocaciones recíprocas entre los cromosomas, que consiste en utilizar el ácido ribonucleico para generar múltiples copias de una región específica mediante la enzima Taq polimerasa.
Objetivo General: Determinar la prevalencia del gen de fusión BCR/ABL p210 mediante la técnica de Reacción en Cadena de la Polimerasa Transcriptasa Inversa (RT-PCR) en pacientes con Leucemia Mieloide Crónica (LMC).
Metodología: El diseño de la investigación fue observacional, descriptivo y retrospectivo realizado de diciembre de 2013 a diciembre de 2017 e incluyo un total de 121 pacientes con diagnóstico de LMC. Los resultados obtenidos fueron analizados y tabulados con el software SPSS versión 23.0 y Excel 2016; los mismos se encuentran representados en tablas y gráficos.
Resultados: La prevalencia del gen de fusión BCR/ABL p210 fue de 38.84 % de los cuales los casos positivos en la ciudad de Cuenca fueron del 24,79 %, los pacientes del sexo masculino representaron el 30,58 % y el 9,92 % conformaron el grupo etario de 28-37 años.
Conclusión: Los pacientes con mayor predisposición a la enfermedad fueron los adultos jóvenes del sexo masculino, la ciudad de Cuenca presentó el mayor número de casos positivos y la implementación de la técnica RT-PCR fue el método de diagnóstico in vitro altamente sensible para la detección del gen de fusión BCR/ABL p210 |
