Frecuencia de ansiedad y depresión en niñas y adolescentes de la casa de acogida "Miguel León" del Cantón Cuenca-Ecuador, 2016

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: Determine the frequency of anxiety and depression in girls from the shelter "Miguel Leon" Canton Cuenca-Ecuador, 2016.

METHODOLOGY: The study is quantitative descriptive. Universe: 35 girls between the ages of 5-18 years of shelter Miguel Leon. The instrument used for data collection was the Child Anxiety Scale SPENCE and Inventory CDI (Children's Depression Inventory). The processing was performed using Microsoft Excel 2010 program and the SPSS 15.0 software. The analysis and presentation of data use frequencies and percentages.

RESULTS: The frequency of anxiety was 22.86% and 17.14% depression. The highest population number was 10 to 14 years with 51.43%. The most were enrolled in primary 82.86%, with no illiteracy. The residence time was most often from 0 to 6 months 57.14%.

CONCLUSIONS: A frequency of 22.86% of the study population with high levels of anxiety, and 17.14% had low and middle levels of depression was obtained. In other studies, similar results were obtained in a study in Quito 18% of the population showed high levels of anxiety, showing higher frequency in our study, in Murcia a frequency of 54% was evident, considering that handle patients situations of increased risk for depression and a value of 14% demonstrating less frequently in our country was obtained
