Perfil epidemiológico clínico de neonatos sometidos a intervención quirúrgica en el Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, 2015-2017

Abstract

BACKGROUND: As the years have passed, care in neonates has improved, due to this a greater survival has been achieved with diseases that require surgical treatment. The World Health Organization indicates that each year 276,000 children worldwide worldwide die during the first month of life due to congenital anomalies. GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To determine the clinical epidemiological profile of the neonates operated surgically in the Regional Hospital "Vicente Corral Moscoso" during the period 2015-2017. METHODOLOGY: Descriptive and prospective study. The universe was constituted by the total number of patients surgically treated at the Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso during the period 2015-2017, since it is an exploratory type study, no sample calculation will be done and the whole universe will be worked on. RESULTS: During the years 2015-2017 there were 83 surgically treated neonates of which the male sex was the most frequent 60.2%, the maternal age was between 20 to 29 years old with 48%. The majority were term neonates 71%. The most frequent condition was intestinal atresia 16.8%, the survival of newborns was 75.9%. CONCLUSIONS: The surgical newborn is a patient that requires a multidisciplinary confrontation due to its complexity. Perinatal care has evolved, achieving the survival of newborns with complex pathologies that require surgical treatment.
