Prevalencia de pancreatitis aguda post colangiopancreatografía retrógrada endoscópica y factores asociados, Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga, período 2012 – 2016

Abstract

Background: acute pancreatitis is one of the main complications after endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), occurring in up to 40% of cases. The associated risk factors behave differently between one population and another. Objective: to determine the prevalence of acute pancreatitis after ERCP and its associated factors in patients at the José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital in the city of Cuenca during the period 2012-2016. Method and Materials: cross – sectional study with analysis of associated risk factors. The population comprised of patients undergoing ERCP in the study period, of which the EPIDAT 3.1 program was used to obtain the sample, generating a total of 218 patients. Results: the prevalence of acute pancreatitis after ERCP was 21%; as risk factors we found age less than 39 years (RP: 1.6, 95% CI: 1.5 to 4.3, p = 0.000), choledocholithiasis as a previous medical condition (RP: 1.9, 95% CI: 1.7 - 4.8, p <0.05) and, the normal state of the papilla (RP: 3, 95% CI: 2.1 - 7.7, p <0.05). The absence of comorbidity (RP: 0; p value of 0.000; IC95%: - 1) and the one that made less than 2 attempts to cannulate the duct (RP: 0.3, IC95%: 0.1 - 0.6, p 0.00), They were protective factors. Conclusion: as associated factors for acute post-ERCP pancreatitis in the patients of the José Carrasco Arteaga hospital were choledocholithiasis, age of 39 years and the normal state of the papilla
