Abstract
Cuenca, a World Heritage city, aims to consolidate as a national and international tourist destination; however, considering this fact, the city is immersed in a market that is permanently changing and growing worldwide where most countries have reached a level of maturity in regard to the tourist offer and demand.
Security has become one of the most important conditions for defining the quality of a tourist destination. Such quality is obtained when the conditions are strengthened for the optimal confluence of all people involved in the tourist sector.
Therefore, this thesis introduces the historical center of the city of Cuenca where a tourist space is delimited in order to study and understand the security perceived by the tourists in a place where citizens and foreigners have accepted Cuenca as a patrimonial and tourist city.
In this way, it is expected that the present study makes the growth and development of the tourist activity in Cuenca easier by focusing on the main conditions that foster security in the tourism field.
Resumen
Cuenca, ciudad Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad, pretende consolidarse como destino turístico a nivel nacional e internacional; no obstante, poniendo esto en consideración, la ciudad se encuentra inmersa en un mercado que está en constante cambio y crecimiento a nivel mundial, donde la mayoría de países han alcanzado un nivel de madurez en cuanto a la oferta y demanda turística.
La seguridad se ha convertido en una de las condiciones más importantes para definir la calidad de un destino turístico, calidad que se obtiene cuando las condiciones se afianzan para la óptima realización de un encuentro entre todos los actores involucrados del sector.
En consecuencia, el presente trabajo de titulación realiza un breve acercamiento al centro histórico de la ciudad de Cuenca, lugar en el cual se delimita un espacio turístico para proceder a estudiar y acercarse a la comprensión de la seguridad turística percibida por parte de los turistas, en un lugar donde propios y extraños han aceptado a Cuenca como una ciudad patrimonial y turística.
De esta forma, se espera que el presente trabajo de titulación facilite el crecimiento y desarrollo de la actividad turística en la ciudad, pues, como se mencionó de manera previa, se centra en una de las condiciones primordiales para que se desarrolle el turismo, la seguridad turística.
