Prevalencia de estomatitis subprotésica en pacientes portadores de prótesis removibles totales y parciales que fueron atendidos en la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad de Cuenca en el periodo 2012- 2016

| dc.description | Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, cuyo objetivo fue, determinar la prevalencia de la estomatitis subprotésica en los pacientes portadores de prótesis removible total o parcial que fueron atendidos en la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad de Cuenca durante el periodo 2012 - 2016. Se utilizó una muestra de 137 pacientes, con la participación de 101 mujeres (73,72%) y 36 hombres (26,28%) de entre 31 y 90 años de edad, con una media de 58,49 (DE=12,53). Se realizó un examen clínico de los pacientes, mediante observación directa de las mucosas de soporte protésico, la patología identificada fué clasificada según Newton, 1962. El examen clínico determinó que 62 pacientes padecían de estomatitis, (45,3%) 60 solo en el maxilar superior y 2 tanto en el superior como en el inferior, las personas con estomatitis en el maxilar inferior, presentaron inflamaciones tipo II y tipo III. De las personas con estomatitis en el maxilar superior, 30 eran del tipo I, 28 del tipo II y 4 del tipo III. La población evaluada presenta una prevalencia de estomatitis subprotésica del 45,3%, la misma que es alta, y más si tomamos en cuenta que la muestra seleccionada fue de pacientes que cambiaron sus prótesis hace menos de cinco años | es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | A descriptive study was developed in order to determine the prevalence of the denture stomatitis in patients with total or partial removable prosthesis. These patients were attended in the Dentistry School at University of Cuenca during the years 2012- 2016. A sample of 137 patients were used, 101 women (73.72%) and 36 men (26.28%). Their ages were between 31 and 90 years old with an average of 58.49 (SD=12.53). A clinical examination of patients, mediate direct observation of mucous membranes support technician, identified pathology was classified according to Newton, 1962 was carried out. The clinic test showed that 62 patients suffered from stomatitis, (45.3%). 60 patients suffered from stomatitis in the upper jaw, and 2 patients had stomatitis both in the upper and lower jaw. People with stomatitis in the lower jaw suffered from inflammations type II and III. These people with stomatitis in the upper jaw, 30 people suffered inflammations type I. 28 people type II and 4 people type III. The evaluated population presented a prevalence of 45.3%, the same that is high; especially if we consider that the selected sample consisted of patients who switched their prostheses less than five years ago | es_ES |
