Abstract
Sustainability in the tourism-hotel sector worldwide is becoming increasingly trendy, because in recent years companies are dedicated to ensuring and helping the preservation of natural and cultural resources by promoting their preservation for future generations. Currently, tourism companies – hotels seek integration between tourists, the community and the environment in order to develop measures or practices that help reduce the environmental impact produced by irresponsible human activities through responsible tourism with the ecosystem. This graduation project will be carried out a comparative study of good practices of sustainable tourism carried out by the Santa Monica and Selina hotels in the city of Cuenca in order to know the current situation that these two hotels have in front of sustainability and the impact that their tourist activity has on the community and on the environment. Following this, an analysis of the biosecurity protocols that have been implemented by hotels due to COVID-19 will be carried out. Finally, a proposal will be established based on the Guide of good sustainable practices version 2005 of the Rainforest Alliance whose objective will be that the hotels carry out a sustainable management obtaining their own benefits and for community without harming the environment where they are developed.
Resumen
La sustentabilidad en el ámbito turístico – hotelero a nivel mundial cada vez está tomando
mayor auge, debido a que en estos últimos años las empresas se están dedicando a velar y
ayudar a la preservación de los recursos naturales, culturales promoviendo la preservación
de los mismos para las futuras generaciones. Actualmente, las empresas turísticas –
hoteleras buscan la integración entre los turistas, la comunidad y el medio ambiente con el fin
de desarrollar medidas o prácticas que ayuden a disminuir el impacto ambiental que producen
las actividades humanas irresponsables por medio de un turismo responsable con el
ecosistema. El presente proyecto de titulación se realizará un estudio comparativo de buenas
prácticas de turismo sostenible que lleva a cabo los hoteles Santa Mónica y Selina de la
ciudad de Cuenca para así conocer la situación actual que llevan estos dos hoteles frente a
la sostenibilidad y el impacto que tiene su actividad turística en la comunidad y en medio
ambiente. Seguido de esto, se realizará un análisis de los protocolos de bioseguridad que
han sido implementados por los hoteles a razón de COVID 19. Finalmente, se establecerá
una propuesta basada en la guía de buenas prácticas sostenibles versión 2005 de la
Rainforest Alliance cuyo objetivo será que los hoteles lleven una gestión sostenible
obteniendo beneficios propios y para comunidad sin perjudicar el medio donde se desarrollan.
