| dc.description | Los senos maxilares son cavidades aéreas que están ubicadas de manera bilateral en el tercio medio de la cara; el crecimiento y desarrollo de estas estructuras son progresivos hasta cierta edad y se ven influenciados por factores como: características raciales, factores ambientales, estilos de vida, morfología facial y sexo. El presente estudio se describe como una investigación de tipo descriptivo de corte transversal que determinó los valores promedio de alto y ancho del seno maxilar mediante el análisis de radiografías panorámicas digitales, se analizaron 390 radiografías, 195 de individuos de sexo masculino y 195 de sexo femenino, estableciendo así que las dimensiones promedio de alto y ancho del sexo masculino en el lado derecho fueron de 27,28mm y de 39,98mm y en el lado izquierdo fueron de 27,29mm y de 39,88mm respectivamente, mientras que en el sexo femenino se encontró valores promedio de alto y ancho en el lado derecho de 26,89mm y de 37,52mm y en el lado izquierdo de 26,50mm y un de 37,52 respectivamente, concluyendo que el ancho de los senos maxilares en el sexo masculino es mayor que en el sexo femenino (valor p<0,05),mientras que en el alto no se encontraron valores estadísticamente significativos entre los dos grupos estudiados | es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | The maxillary sinuses are air cavities that are located bilaterally in the middle third of the face; the growth and development of these structures are progressive up to a certain age and are influenced by factors such as: racial characteristics, environmental factors, lifestyles, facial morphology and sex. The present study is described as a descriptive cross-sectional investigation that determined the average values of maxillary sinus height and width through the analysis of panoramic radiographs, 390 radiographs were analyzed, 195 of male and 195 female subjects, establishing that the average height and width dimensions of the male on the right side were 27.28mm and 39.98mm and on the left side were 27.29mm and 39.88mm respectively, while in the female sex found average values of height and width on the right side of 26.89mm and 37.52mm and on the left side of 26.50mm and one of 37.52 respectively, it was also described that the width of the maxillary sinuses in the male sex is higher than in the female sex (p value 0.000), while in the high one no statistically values were found significant differences between the two groups studied | es_ES |
