Representación social del psicólogo educativo en los colegios de Cuenca

Abstract

The objective of this research was to identify the social representation that the educational community has regarding the Educational Psychologist in the schools of Cuenca. The focus of this study was of a qualitative nature, with an exploratory scope and a phenomenological design. For the collection of information, a semi-structured interview was used, based on the categories proposed by the author Moscovici; information, field of social representation and attitude. The participants of this study were made up of rectors, teachers and parents who integrate the educational community of the schools; Benigno Malo, César Dávila Andrade, Dolores J Torres, San José De La Salle. The people interviewed were selected through convenience sampling. The results obtained indicate that the actors of the educational community consider that the main scenario of action of the Educational Psychologist are the educational institutions, exactly within the Department of Student Counseling (DECE), ignoring the different scenarios of performance that exist within the professional profile of the Educational Psychologist In terms of the functions they perform, they are perceived differently depending on the group of actors. In addition, there are demands on the part of these actors towards the Educational Psychologist that are not part of their professional competences, nevertheless they must be done for the needs presented by the educational institution. These last aspects show the erroneous ideas that are presented in the educational community regarding the professional profile of the Educational Psychologist.
