Abstract
This degree project explores the artistic representation of the emotional bond between people and their deceased pets. In this way, the affective and symbolic value is reinterpreted through the use of large-format calligrams, where lines and text converge in a new visual narrative. Drawing on authors such as Berger, Haraway, and Cirulnik, it recognizes that the human-animal relationship has historically been ambivalent and that attachment to pets is often underestimated, despite its profound impact on people's emotional lives. In addition, it proposes the creation of commemorative portraits, with the aim of validating and reframing the grieving process, offering a symbolic space for emotional healing. The calligram technique, inspired by the artist Elisa Salas, allows image and word to merge, transforming the human-animal bond into an aesthetic experience that highlights its emotional influence and questions social indifference towards these ties. References such as Sophie Calle and Tracey Emin demonstrate how art can be a means of catharsis and memory in the face of pet loss. Thus, the project seeks not only to create artistic works, but also to raise social awareness of the importance of companion animals in everyday life, contributing to a revaluation of affection and memory.
Resumen
Este proyecto de titulación explora la representación artística del vínculo emocional entre personas y sus mascotas fallecidas. De tal forma, el valor afectivo y simbólico se ve resignificado mediante el uso del caligrama en gran formato donde el trazo y el texto convergen en una nueva narrativa visual. Basándose en autores como Berger, Haraway y Cirulnik, se reconoce que la relación humano-animal ha sido históricamente ambivalente y que el apego hacia las mascotas suele ser subestimado, a pesar de su profundo impacto en la vida emocional de las personas. Además, plantea la creación de retratos conmemorativos, con el objetivo de validar y resignificar el proceso de duelo, ofreciendo un espacio simbólico para la sanación emocional. La técnica del caligrama, inspirada en la artista Elisa Salas, permite fusionar imagen y palabra para transformar el vínculo humano-animal en una experiencia estética que visibiliza su influencia emocional y cuestiona la indiferencia social hacia estos lazos. Referentes como Sophie Calle y Tracey Emin demuestran cómo el arte puede ser un medio de catarsis y memoria ante la pérdida de mascotas. Así, el proyecto no solo busca crear obras artísticas, sino también un reconocimiento social sobre la importancia de los animales de compañía en la vida cotidiana, contribuyendo a la revalorización del afecto y la memoria
