La mediación pedagógica en la Facultad de Filosofía de la Universidad del Azuay. Aplicación en el aula

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to learn how the professors of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Azuay, who have a Masters degree, apply Pedagogical Mediation as well as its incidence in the classroom practice. In addition, understanding the transcendence of the postgraduate program in University Teaching is of interest for this study along with the design of an initial Training Program for University teachers.The qualitative-quantitative method is applied with the participation of 15 teachers and 72 students. It is an exploratory-descriptive study, which was carried out a single time. Semi structured research tools were employed through the use of surveys; focus groups; document analysis of the teacher’s working materials and the results of the university teacher’s evaluations; finally, an interview with Doctor Daniel Prieto Castillo, who is an expert on this matter. During this work the teachers’ involvement as a specialist and as a companion during the learning process is reaffirmed. Teachers show a positive attitude toward taking over responsibility and giving sense to the educational activity. This objective gives validity to the personal relationships that are established, to the teachers training, to the institutions where pedagogy is carried out, and to the student training and follow up through the evaluation processes. An outstanding point is how labor practice and the creation of material for the teaching practice are poorly valued.
