Abstract

In Ecuador, the central axis of the Penitentiary System is the social rehabilitation and social reinsertion of criminally sentenced persons, as well as the fulfillment of their rights, for which the development of their capacities will be a priority in order to serve their sentence and meet in freedom they are able to live away from illegal activities and do not fall into recidivism, this is how the need arises for the present investigation, whose objective was to determine if the rehabilitation and social reintegration of persons deprived of liberty in the rehabilitation center Sierra Centro Sur Turi is affected, for this the social rehabilitation system, the guarantees and rights of persons deprived of liberty in relation to compliance with the principle of rehabilitation of the criminally sentenced person have been analyzed, through the review of bibliographic information and the analysis of the legal body pertinent to the subject matter, They also conducted interviews with public officials, prison guards and people deprived of liberty, which resulted in information on the current state of the prison system and the impact on its rehabilitation and social reintegration function.
