Abstract

The analysis of illegal constructions in the city of Cuenca is important to understand the phenomenon between what urban standard allows in the field of construction and the need of the owner. You need to consider two scenarios: informal settlements in prohibited zones, a situation that has not yet made visible to a large extent; and buildings that have been modified breach of planning regulations. Constructions in which it is stated that among the possible reasons for modification are the need to improve the functionality of it or generate family economic development, probably causing damages to the urban landscape and even the deterioration of the quality of life for residents will be analyzed. The research project is to locate the buildings in the area of performance that violate the ordinances in the Canton Cuenca, in order to generate solutions in search of the homogeneity of the sector.
