dc.descriptionEl presente estudio tiene como finalidad analizar la eficiencia de una herramienta manual para deshierbe y aporque en el cultivo de maíz (Zea mays L.) en Nero, Azuay, por lo cual, se establecieron tres objetivos específicos: comparar las características del suelo antes del establecimiento del cultivo (AEC), y después del aporque (POST/AP); evaluar el comportamiento fenológico del cultivo con tres densidades de siembra entre surcos y entre plantas (d1 0,50x0,40 m), d2 (0,75x0,40m) y d3 (1x0,40m), así también con los tratamientos T1 (azada) y T2 (surcadora). Los análisis permitieron determinar la influencia de la herramienta y costos de producción en el desarrollo del cultivo hasta la etapa fenológica V11. Finalmente, se estimaron los costos de producción, utilizando la herramienta manual T2 frente a herramientas tradicionales T1, para evaluar la viabilidad económica y la eficiencia de tiempo de trabajo. Mediante los resultados, se evidenció que, para siete parámetros de las propiedades físico-químicas del suelo evaluadas. El porcentaje de materia orgánica (%MO), fue la única variable que presentó diferencias estadísticas significativas en relación con los tratamientos T1 y T2, por otro lado, las densidades d3 presentan diferencias significativas en altura de planta, número de hojas y grosor de tallo a diferencia de d1 y d2. Así T2 tuvo mayor eficiencia de tiempo frente a T1, lo cual implica menor costo de producción. dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study was to analyze the efficiency of a hand tool for weeding and ridging in corn (Zea mays L.) cultivation in Nero, Azuay, for which three specific objectives were established. First, soil characteristics before crop establishment (AEC) and after hilling (POST/AP) were compared to evaluate any significant changes caused by the use of the hand tool. Secondly, phenological behavior was evaluated at three planting densities, d1(0.50m), d2(0.75) and d3(1m) between rows, to determine the influence of this on crop development. Finally, production costs were estimated, using the manual tool T2 (furrower), compared to traditional tools T1 (hoe), to evaluate the economic viability and efficiency of the use of this tool. The results showed that, for seven parameters of the physical-chemical properties of the soil evaluated, the %MO was the only variable that presented significant statistical differences in relation to the treatments T1 and T2, on the other hand, the densities d3 presented significant differences in plant height, number of leaves and stem thickness as opposed to d1 and d2, so T2 had greater time efficiency compared to T1, in relation to production costs.
