Prevalencia de hipoacusia conductiva en usuarios del Centro Audiológico Benoit-Cuenca 2019

Abstract

Background: Hearing is the sense that allow us to be connected at all times with the outside world; a failure in any organ part of this sense produces hearing loss that could be partial or total, this pathology is the third most common disease in the world. Objective: Determine the prevalence of conductive hearing loss in patients who attended the Benoit Audiological Center in the city of Cuenca in 2019. Methodology: The study is a transversal descriptive type, the universe is finitely homogeneous, it is made up of 75 hearing tests runed on users of the Benoit Hearing Aid Center in 2019, the sample is purposeful since subjects with particular characteristics are chosen and we recollected information from the audiological center's database, the results will be presented in statistical tables of frequency, combined and measures of central tendency. The statistical analysis will include data tabulation in Excel and the results will be univariate in SPSS 2.0 software. Results, the age group that has presented the highest frequency of conductive hearing loss is between the ages of 5 and 15 years, representing 38.6% of the cases. Talking about gender, men constitute 54.6% of those affected, referring to otological history, earwax plug is the most common, affecting 44% of users. On the other hand, 84% of patients have altered otoscopy. In terms of otological diagnosis, 65.3% do not have a specific diagnosis recorded. In the audiometric results, it is highlighted that 30.6% of the cases present bilateral conductive hearing loss.
