Abstract
This research delves into the creative process in art and design through the creation of a graphic novel with a historical and heritage focus on the Municipal Museum of Toquilla Straw and Hats, formerly known as the House of Toquilla Straw Hat Weaving.
The graphic novel aims to foster sociocultural awareness in an engaging and accessible way for the current generation, adapting to the digital and technological context. The work incorporates historical elements of Cuenca, such as its buildings, clothing, locations, and flora, and employs digital tools and internationally recognized illustration styles, such as manhwa and manga, to facilitate its dissemination in digital format.
The storyline begins with the journey of a young man transporting toquilla straw to the town of Cullca, highlighting the weaving process and the cultural value of this Ecuadorian tradition.
Resumen
Esta investigación explora el proceso creativo en arte y diseño mediante la creación de una novela gráfica con enfoque histórico y patrimonial sobre el Museo Municipal de la Paja Toquilla y el Sombrero, anteriormente conocido como la Casa del Tejido del Sombrero de Paja Toquilla.
La novela gráfica pretende promover la conciencia sociocultural de una manera amena y accesible para la generación actual, adaptándose al contexto digital y tecnológico. La obra incorpora elementos históricos de Cuenca, como sus edificaciones, vestimentas, lugares y flora, emplea herramientas digitales y estilos de ilustración reconocidos internacionalmente, como el manhwa y el manga, para facilitar su difusión en formato digital.
La trama inicia con la aventura de un joven que transporta la paja toquilla al pueblo de Cullca, destacando el proceso de tejido y el valor cultural de esta tradición ecuatoriana.
