| dc.description | En este artículo se describe el caso clínico de una mujer de 42 años con dolor crónico en la articulación temporomandibular. Al realizar el diagnóstico, la tomografía computarizada de haz cónico mostró que sus terceros molares superiores estaban impactados. Se realizó un bloqueo anestésico del nervio auriculotemporal, seguido de una técnica infiltrativa sobre los dientes impactados. El bloqueo anestésico disminuyó el dolor de la ATM, pero no lo eliminó. La técnica infiltrativa lo eliminó por completo. Se sugiere la presencia de dolor referido y se propone extracción de terceros molares y seguimiento. Este puede ser un caso de gran interés para la odontología moderna que indica que el dolor heterotópico es común en la práctica diaria. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | In this article, the clinical case of a 42-year-old female with chronic pain in her temporomandibular joint is described. When making the diagnosis, cone beam computed tomography showed that her upper third molars were impacted. An anesthetic block of the auriculotemporal nerve was performed, followed by an infiltrative technique on the impacted teeth. The anesthetic block decreased the TMJ pain but did not eliminate it. The infiltrative technique completely eliminated it. The presence of referred pain is suggested, and extraction of the third molars and follow-up are proposed. This can be a case of wide interest to modern dentistry that indicates that heterotopic pain is common in daily practice. | en_US |
