| dc.description | Las dimensiones y proporciones estéticas de los incisivos centrales superiores (UCI) son fundamentales en la estética dental y facial debido a su prominencia en la sonrisa. Esta revisión de la literatura tuvo como objetivo establecer las relaciones ideales de ancho/largo de los UCI. Se identificaron diecinueve estudios relevantes después de una búsqueda en 3 bases de datos: PubMed, Scopus y Springer. Resultados: Las relaciones medias de ancho/largo variaron del 80-85% en varias poblaciones. Se ha corroborado que las dimensiones de los UCI presentan una diferencia significativa entre géneros, mostrando los hombres mayores dimensiones tanto en ancho como en alto que las mujeres. La media general para los hombres fue de 8,63 mm de ancho y 10,17 mm de largo, mientras que para las mujeres fue de 8,32 mm y 9,36 mm, respectivamente. Conclusiones: Es crucial adaptar los tratamientos odontológicos a las características individuales de los pacientes para lograr resultados funcionales y estéticos. Factores como el género, la etnia y el desgaste dental influyen en las dimensiones y proporciones, subrayando la importancia de individualizar los tratamientos dentales para optimizar los resultados estéticos y funcionales. | |
| dc.description.abstract | The esthetic dimensions and proportions of the upper central incisors (UCI) are fundamental in dental and facial esthetics due to their prominence in the smile. This literature review aimed to establish the ideal width/length ratios of the UCIs. Nineteen relevant studies were identified after a search of 3 databases: PubMed, Scopus, and Springer. Results: Mean width/length ratios ranged from 80-85% in various populations. It has been corroborated that UCI dimensions present a significant difference between genders, with men showing larger dimensions in both width and height than women. The overall mean for males was 8.63 mm in width and 10.17 mm in length, while for females it was 8.32 mm and 9.36 mm, respectively. Conclusions: It is crucial to adapt dental treatments to individual patient characteristics to achieve functional and esthetic results. Factors such as gender, ethnicity and dental wear influence the dimensions and proportions, underlining the importance of individualizing dental treatments to optimize esthetic and functional results. | |
