La identidad cultural en tiempos de globalización desde una representación escultórico-alegórica experimental

Abstract

The cultural identity of the canton of Chilla, in the province of El Oro, Ecuador, is addressed, highlighting how this is manifested through its festivities, dances, agricultural practices and craft traditions. From a research-creation perspective, it is proposed to represent this cultural richness through miniature sculptures made with recycled materials and epoxy putty, combining innovative techniques with a narrative and symbolic approach. The main objective is to preserve and reflect on cultural identity in a context of globalization, exploring how these traditional expressions adapt and endure in the face of social change. The sculptures seek to capture significant moments of Chilla's daily life and traditions, such as the procession of the Virgin, the local market and agricultural work, promoting community pride and connection to local roots. The work also aims to foster an aesthetic and emotional experience for viewers, highlighting the importance of keeping these cultural practices alive in a world in constant transformation. Through this artistic project, the link between tradition and modernity is reinforced, inviting the community to value and preserve its cultural heritage.
