Análisis de la percepción de los stakeholders turísticos sobre los problemas de inseguridad que afectan la actividad turística en el cantón Cuenca, Ecuador

Abstract

Cuenca is a tourist reference for national and international visitors due to the variety of tourist attractions it has, which has allowed it to be declared a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO. However, it has been affected by insecurity that has increased significantly during the year 2022. Currently, security is a key component in tourists' decision-making about choosing a place and the tranquility of the areas. people who offer tourist services in a destination. In this way, this study analyzes the perceptions of tourism stakeholders about the insecurity that affects tourism activity in the Cuenca canton, Ecuador. To do this, a diagnosis was carried out through bibliographic sources on insecurity in the canton, then interviews and surveys were carried out with different actors and finally alternatives were proposed to face this problem. The study is based on a mixed cross-sectional analytical scope approach, carrying out two types of research, qualitative and quantitative, to obtain different perspectives on the case. Regarding the results obtained, the stakeholders agree that insecurity in tourism activity negatively influences the destination since it constitutes limitations and alterations in tourism development. Furthermore, it does not depend solely on the tourism sector but on the attention to needs by the competent authorities. Keywords: insecurity, tourist activity, stakeholders, tourist destination
