Identidades urbanas y la apropiación del espacio público: hip-hop en el Parque Calderón de la ciudad de Cuenca

Abstract

Cities are not just the stage where life takes place, but public spaces such as streets, sidewalks, or parks, and squares welcome countless interactions that occur, not only among the individuals who inhabit them, but also among them and the norms that are imposed by local governments. This issue has been the subject of debate in the social sciences during the last decades of the 20th century and the firsts of the 21th. However, this situation has rarely been evaluated from the perspective of young population. This is why this research aims to problematize ―from point of view of hip-hop culture of Cuenca― the heritage situation of the cities designated as such, by analyzing the relationships, tensions and perceptions that are created in public places such as Parque Calderón.
