Determinación de la tarifa del Tranvía 4 Ríos de la ciudad de Cuenca, a partir de los costos de inversión y operación

Abstract

The background of the growth of the City's automotive fleet in recent years created the need to be able to find a mobility solution due to the traffic congestion that is generated throughout the city; however; the area with the most impact according with the studies and results carried out by the Company Mobility of the City of Cuenca, is the historical center of the city that currently has a high vehicular traffic, in order to mitigate this impact, the Municipality of Cuenca in 2014 undertakes viability studies to implement the Integrated Public Transportation System the Tramway System, the present project has as main objective to determine a rate for this system, considering that this tramway project is new for the city and does not have a standardized methodology to be able to set a fee to the tramway service , the study is carried out to determine this rate based on the operating costs of the tramway system will generate when it becomes operational, the background of public transportation of the City of Cuenca is analyzed in order to have a better knowledge of the problems that the City is currently going through, with the final purpose to determine the demand that this service will have an in-situ survey with an investigation that will give results on the intention of using it in the urban population of the City of Cuenca, in addition to the socioeconomic analysis of the equilibrium rate, a rate that equals the value current bus fare, for that reason, a rate recommended as an optimum fare for using the tramway system is 0.75 cents., which will help make the project self-sustaining.
