Perspectivas discentes sobre recursos didácticos empleados en la enseñanza de Ciencias Naturales en Básica Media

Abstract

The outdated didactic resources in science and the frequent use of the book as backing material have been the purpose of this investigation. This study aims to identify from the perspective of students of Basic secondary education, the didactic resources that facilitate the understanding of content in the subject of Natural science and study bibliographically the advantages of using didactic resources in this subject. The applied methodology was qualitative, with a cross- sectional phenomenological design, which was applied as a tool to a semi structured interview consisting of nine open ended questions, to nine students. Upon analyzing the data, the findings indicated that the teachers in this subject use many common didactic resources, such as the Ministry of Education textbook, whiteboards, images, models,etc. Demonstrating certain advantages for students, they consider them to be supportive in the understanding of topics covered in the subject, which is reflected in their academic performance. However, the interviewees suggest the implementation of new resource proposals that allow them to connect with reality, their environment, hat are manipulable and sufficient for each student. In conclusion the common didactic materials used by teachers provide support for their learning. However, it is necessary to implement new materials that capture the attention and motivate them. They believe that through these materials, they will be able to construct their own knowledge and improve their academic performance, considering that these materials will be effective as long as there is willingness on their part.
