(Universidad de Cuenca, 2012-06-18) Ramos Monori, Leonardo
The new circumstances of the institutional academic politic, the overcoming of the lack of provision of number of classrooms to meet the current needs, streamline assignments and schedules, and the larger envelope of cubicles to research purposes and works related to teaching for a greater number of professors, encourage the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of Cuenca in 2007 to propose the extension of its infrastructure. This article has been prepared based on the technical report submitted and resulting winner in the contest. It shows the designer’s intention and the considerations that prompted both for the construction of the new building, as some of the retrofits in existing buildings which were integrated to the proposal.

Revisión de la industrialización de la vivienda y de tres experiencias de sistemas constructivos en Latinoamérica
(Universidad de Cuenca, 2012-06-18) Samaniego Sánchez, Augusto Patricio
This article tries to present, in a synthesized way, a set of variables obtained from an inventory of 123 construction industrialized techniques, prepared by a group of American researchers, listed in the First catalog of industrialized techniques for the low-cost housing in Latin America and the Caribbean with the coordination of the architect Walter Kruk. The variables refer to the extent of the use of industrialized techniques, the kind of techniques, materials, periods of development, the intensity of the investment and the type of labor; which, in general, allow to identify the characteristics of the construction companies that have opted for the path of industrialization. This part concludes with a description of the technological profile of a Latin American company. Finally, to illustrate the main features of the building systems that use industrialized techniques in Latin America it concludes with a brief review of three successful and innovative experiences for low cost housing as the sytems BENO in Argentina, SANDINO in Cuba and SANCOCHO in Venezuela.

(Universidad de Cuenca, 2012-06-18) Galindo, Tomás
This article suggests an approach sui generis to the conception of sustainable architecture preliminary project, where the response provided by the architecture to the problem set is defined exclusively from the tangible results that provides analysis of a series of specific factors, determined by the environment or architectural context, as well as by the implicit functional parameters within the subject of project. Obviously, should be noted that the subject of this article is reflected in its contents through a description and personal appreciation of its author on the method noticeable from the reading of the thesis paper: "Scientific research center for tourism & Museum of Meteorology in San Cristóbal Island, Galapagos province", document cited in the bibliography of this article.
