Cuenca 2017.(2017) Loja Sisalima, Ruth Patricia; Suin Pillacela, Alfredo David; Arévalo Peláez, Carlos EduardoBackground: Abortion is an ancient practice. It is similar to the social organization of humanity. Over the years several controversies have emerged based on different points of view, in which the legislation of each state has become the most representative point of debate among various contexts. Thus excluding the different opinions and realities of the population. General objective: To identify the perceptions of nursing students about induced abortion. Methodology: This is a qualitative study, which had the participation of 8 students (4 women and 4 men) of the nursing career of the University of Cuenca belonging to the second, third, fifth and seventh semester. Snowball sampling was used. The information was obtained by in-depth interviews and recording using a tape recorder. The information was transcribed in Word. The interpretation and analysis was done in the program Atlas Ti 7.5.4, with their respective categories, appointments, codes and memos. Use of Results: Nursing students perceive abortion negatively, considering an inadmissible social act, however there are discrepancies on medical abortion because of medical justification. For them, the main factors that influenced the decision were economic instability, family support, social and cultural pressure. The consequences of this practice are known. Therefore, awareness campaigns and contraceptive use should be promoted, thus teaching the population about the risk that exists and the reality that the consequences of abortion entail
