Elaboración de un programa de producción más limpia para el Hotel Vásquez Inn

The hotel service is a key element in the development of the tourist activity. For this reason it can be considered a fundamental aspect for a sustainable development in lodging establishments, where the main aim has to be focused on the improvement of sociocultural, environmental, economic and participation aspects the local community, in order to meet the visitors’ demands. In this study, a Cleaner Production Program (PML, by its acronym in Spanish) was proposed, the same one that was developed in the facilities of the Vásquez Inn Hotel, in order to assures an efficient use of resources such as supplies, water and energy. The preparation of the PML program included the analysis and development of four of the five stages outlined in the PML General Technical Guide of the Center for the Promotion of Sustainable Technologies, taking into consideration that the last stage regarding the implementation, monitoring and evaluation was not performed in the present study. A survey of the processes, resources and inputs use, and waste generation was carried out. From the present analysis, nine PML options were identified, and such findings were evaluated in environmental, technical and economic aspects.
