The purpose of this study is to determine the clinical characteristics of abortion of patients at the Gynecology Department, Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital, during the period 2015. The methodology used in this study is descriptive and retrospective, conducted by reviewing medical records of 371 patients diagnosed with abortion at the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital. Information was collected on a form and the data was analyzed through SPSS 15. The results show that the average age group is 27- 47 years being the most common group of 20-29 years, 37.9% was in a common law marriage, 69% of the cases lived in urban areas and 46.9% completed high school; the unemployment rate was 53.3; the most common risk factor was a history of abortions with 26.3%. Different types of abortion being the most frequently incomplete type with 57.3% of cases, 82.5% underwent MVA for the resolution of abortion were presented, while 7.4% of the women was prescribed misoprostol orally and 27.6% vaginally. It has a low prevalence, estimated at 50 per 100,000 inhabitants, affecting women in a greater proportion in a 5:1 ratio with its opposite, especially between the ages of 20 to 40 years. Objective: to establish the frequency of clinical, laboratory and therapeutic characteristics in patients with antiphospholipid syndrome at the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital during the year 2019. Method: a cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out based on data from Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital with patients diagnosed with antiphospholipid syndrome in 2019. Epi Info 7, a data collector statistical program, was used, and the results were tabulated. The database will be anonymized. Results: a mean age of 31.66 ±10.18 years was observed, with a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 61 years. Most of the patients are mestizo women from the mountains. The most frequent clinical manifestations are chronic headache and fetal loss greater than 10 SG with 34.1% for both cases. In second place, deep vein thrombosis was observed with 20.5%. No case of adrenal infarction was observed. Most of the patients presented leukocytosis with neutrophilia, lymphopenia, erythropenia, anemia with a hematocrit less than 40 and a normal platelet count. Immunological results for cardiolipin positive were the most frequently observed. The highest percentage of patients was treated with heparin with 43.2% of the total.Item Características del aborto en el Hospital Provincial de Macas durante el año 2005(2006) Arce Idrovo, Fabián Gustavo; Campoverde Lupercio, Augusta Natalia; Molina Novillo, Javier AlonsoIn order to know the characteristics of abortion in the Provincial Hospital of Macas in 2005 and deteerminar each of the variables that are in this condition. Exploratory, longitudinal study, using as a study area Macas Provincial Hospital, the universe are all the medical records of women diagnosed with any type of abortion who were hospitalized in the Provincial Hospital of Macas, in 2005. It has been observed the incidence of abortions in 2005 is 151 cases and of these 2representan septic abortion, the abortion 2,65se is ongoing, incomplete abortion and 82,78son 12,58constituyen deferred abortions, appearing in a higher proportion those covered in women aged 15-25 years from rural areas of the province of Morona Santiago. Of the patients who came to this hospital 30son incomplete primary education, the 23pertenecen to incomplete secondary education, the 21pertenecen to complete secondary education. The most used criteria are: irregularities of the gestational sac, absence of cardiac activity for a certain crane-caudal length and absence of a visible embryo for a certain mean diameter of the gestational sac. Objective: to determine the characteristics of the gestational sac as a predictor of abortion in the ultrasounds performed at the José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital. Cuenca, Ecuador 2019-2020 Methodology: a cross-sectional analytical study was carried out to determine the ultrasound characteristics of the gestational sac as a predictor of abortion. The universe consisted of 810 women who underwent obstetric transvaginal ultrasound at the José Carrasco Arteaga hospital 2019-2020. The sample size was calculated with the EPIDAT 3.6 program, with the following criteria: prevalence 26%, precision 5%, confidence level 95%, obtaining a sample of 218 women, personal identification data was not taken into account as name and identity document. For the development of this research, an informed consent form was provided. Results: the prevalence of abortion was 31.3%, in pregnant women between 4 and 12 weeks, with preponderant ages between 20 and 34 years, with a mean of 30.5 years, the ultrasound indicator showed a greater relationship of the loss of pregnancy is the absence of an embryo with a diameter of 36.4 mm. Conclusions: it was concluded that the characteristics of the gestational sac according to Nyberg are significantly associated with first trimester abortion; the double decidual reaction and the implantation of the gestational sac double the threat of abortion, in addition, the double decidual reaction has a great predictive capacity.Item Características ecográficas del saco vitelino durante el primer trimestre del embarazo como predictor de aborto. The irregular, echogenic and altered size of the yolk sac can be associated with abortion; therefore, it is important to evaluate yolk sac ultrasound throughout the first trimester, since it can determine the pregnancy prognosis. Objective: To determine the ultrasound characteristics of the yolk sac during the first trimester of pregnancy as a predictor of abortion. José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital. Basin. 2016 - 2017. Methods: This cross-sectional analytical study, was carried out on 397 clinical histories (finally working 407) of pregnant women in their 5th to 10th gestational weeks, which were referred to the imaging service of Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga during 2016 to 2017, with a follow-up every 4 weeks until reaching 20 weeks of pregnancy. Data was collected in a previous improved form through a pilot Project. The SPSS V 15 database was constructed.and analyzed by simple and multiple frequency tables for the bivariate analysis. Results: From the total of pregnant women, 24.82% had an abortion. Average age 28.75 years (± 5.9). Shape of the regular yolk sac developed 14.25% abortions, irregularly represented 10.57% (RP 37.06 IC95%: 15.08-91.01, p 0.000). Size less than 3mm and more than 5 mm developed 17.20% abortions (RP 4.08 IC95%: 2.51-6.61, p 0.000). Anechoic structure established 18.92% abortions in comparison to the echogenic and calcified structure 5.90% (RP 31.48 IC95%: 9.23-107.27, p 0.000). Conclusion: According to the results of this study, ultrasound characteristics of the yolk sac in terms of shape, size and structure were associated with further development of involuntary spontaneous abortion.Item Características sociodemográficas y tipos de aborto de las adolescentes que acudieron al Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso durante el periodo 2003-2013(2015) Barbecho Quito, Carmen del Rocío; Galabay Morquecho, Digna Cumandá; De la Cruz Cruz, Guadalupe; Rodríguez Sánchez, Dolores AmparitoBackground: teenage pregnancy is a public health problem, there are no physical, biological, or physiological preparation to take a physiologically appropriate pregnancy; being one of the main problems of the teenage mother, abortion puts in risk both mother and child. General purpose: Determine sociodemographic characteristics and different types of abortion of teenagers that went to Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital during the 2003 – 2013 periods. Methodology: A descriptive and quantitative study has been made in in all adolescents hat had gone to present their abortion, for what the Stadistic Department registration books had been reviewed, the information were analyzed in the “SPSS” 15 program, where simple tabloids and variable relations have been made, with their respective frequencies and percentages; in the quantitative variables, data as standard deviation were obtained. Results: The universe was was of the 901 cases of adolescents that suffered abortion. In our study, adolescents between the ages of 17-19 correspond to the highest percentage of abortions (78.8%), most from the city of Cuenca (73.5%). As for the Civil State a 38.4% were single, With respect to primary education level corresponds to the highest percentage (63,4%), and the type of abortion most frequent was the incomplete abortion (38.3%). Conclusion: during this period there has not existed a considerable decrease of cases of abortion in adolescents even though sexual education and reproductive has incrementedItem Caracterización del aborto recurrente en mujeres de edad fertil, hospital “Vicente Corral Moscoso”, 2015-2019(Universidad de Cuenca, 2020-10-14) Bravo Durán, Johanna del Carmen; Cajamarca Calle, Jenny Maribel; Sánchez Campoverde, Diana EstherBackground: The World Health Organization (WHO) indicates that the fertile age in women is from 15 to 44 years, in this group of the population recurrent abortion has a low prevalence, for this reason the bibliographic production is limited, the present investigation tries to characterize the recurrent abortion and determine the reality in this area where the woman in fertile age is presenting (1). Objective: To characterize recurrent abortion in women in fertile age. Hospital “Vicente Corral Moscoso”, 2015-2019. Methodology: A quantitative descriptive study was carried out at the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital, and a search was made of clinical reports of patients with recurrent abortion symptoms between 2015 and 2019, obtaining a total of 83 cases, with prior authorization from the institution of health and watching the bioethical principles, the data were extracted in a self-elaborated form, after that the information was tabulated and processed in the statistical package SPSS v. 25, and presenting the information in frequency tables. Results: Most of the patients with recurrent abortion are older than 30 years in 54.2% of the cases, the history of previous abortion had 39.8% of the patients, and they had an average of 3.6 previous feats. The secondary education with 54.2%, with 37.3% primary, and 8.4% represents a higher education level; the rural sector represents 61.4%, while 38.8% are from urban area. Housework had 62.7%, the 14.5% practice had a profession, others had 10.8%, the 6% are studying, 3.6% are engaged in agriculture and 2.4% are artisans, 56.6% are married followed by common law union with 25.3%, single women with 16.9% in women with a diagnosis of recurrent abortion, also, the majority of patients had 2 additional diagnoses to recurrent abortion (38.6%), followed by one diagnosis (26.5%). The most frequent risk factors in women in fertile age with a diagnosis of recurrent abortion were vaginal infection (60.2%), being a passive smoker (50.6%) and overweight (45.8%). Most of the habitual abortion women did not have births (50.6%), followed by those who had vaginal birth with 36.1%, in the age groups younger than 20 years and older than 30 years, overweight stands out as more frequent nutritional status with 60% and 51.1% respectively, and in the case of the age group between 20 and 30 years, a normal body mass index prevailed. Conclusion: the patients with recurrent abortion symptoms who came to the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital are elderly, multi-pregnant mothers, with controllable risk factors and associated multiple pathologies.Item Conocimientos y actitudes de los estudiantes del 3ro bachillerato de la “Unidad Educativa Chordeleg” sobre métodos abortivos, 2018(2019) Palomeque Saquicela, Jéssica Paola; Pacheco Marcatoma, Blanca Sarbelia; Altamirano Cárdenas, Ruth XimenaBackground: morbidity and mortality in women due to abortion is one of the main indicators of the health dimensions that a population must face, in addition to highlighting poverty and the lack of education to exercise their rights. Having knowledge about various health methods of pregnancy termination reduces the morbidity and mortality of women in fertile state. General Objective: identify the knowledge and attitudes of the students of the 3rd baccalaureate of the Unidad Educativa Chordeleg on abortive methods, 2018. Methodology: a descriptive, retrospective and cross-sectional study was carried out, working with a finite universe of 147 students of the Chordeleg Educational Unit of the 3rd baccalaureate. The instrument used was a questionnaire of knowledge and an attitude test, validated in the research of Trujillo and Sembrera (2015). This instrument was adjusted to our research, in order to achieve our objectives. The data were analyzed in the statistical program SPSS 15 and the results are presented in frequency tables and percentages. Result Results: According to the results of the surveys, it was found that 51% of adolescents reside in the rural area, 91.2% have an age between 17 to 19 years, 51% represent the female sex, 68% have received sex education by government entities. In relation to the knowledge on abortion, 74.1% evidenced low basic aspects of the interruption of pregnancy, 76% do not know about the safe medical abortive methods. It is concluded that there is a low knowledge of adolescents about abortive methods and the attitude is indifferent to it.Item Conocimientos, actitudes y percepciones de los estudiantes de la carrera de medicina de la Universidad de Cuenca sobre la despenalización del aborto y aborto voluntario, 2020 – 2021(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-05-21) Costa Pérez, Claudia Gabriela; Muñoz Sarmiento, Germania Estefanía; Vega Crespo, Bernardo JoséBackground: 15% of maternal deaths in Ecuador are due to clandestine abortions, which is why the country is still on the list of nations that consider abortion as an illegal act in their laws. General objective: This research project seeks to identify the knowledge, attitudes and perceptions about voluntary abortion and its decriminalization, in Medicine students of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of Cuenca, within the period July - December 2020. Methodology: A quantitative descriptive study was carried out, the universe was made up of 1170 medical students from the University of Cuenca, and through a randomized structured online survey, 289 students were selected, the information provided by them served for the analysis of the established variables, exposed in descriptive statistics. Expected results: It was identified that 3.5% of the students were aware of the legal grounds that allow abortion in Ecuador. 91.70% said they did not agree with voluntary abortion, 82.86% of those investigated considered the causes studied in the form as sufficient for Ecuadorian legislation to decriminalize abortion. The perception that abortion is a public health problem was considered by 88.60% of those surveyed.Item Estudio clínico aleatorizado de la eficacia del metrotexato mas misoprostol en el manejo clínico del aborto. Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga(2014) Romero Quinde, Paúl Omar; Muñoz Cajilima, Juan Pablo; Arévalo Pelaéz, Carlos EduardoBackground: The World Health Organization informs that in developed countries between 25% and 50% percent of maternal death are caused by abortion. In our country the most applied treatment is the Endouterine Manual Aspiration followed by Uterine Instrumental Curettementl. Although clinical treatment of abortion has had satisfactory responses worldwide, it has been poorly applied and investigated in our country. Aims: To evaluate the efficacy of combined therapy of misoprostol plus methotrexate compared to misoprostol alone during clinical management of abortion. Method and Techniques: a double-blind randomized clinical trial was conducted at the Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga, a group of 126 patients with abortion up to 12 weeks of gestation, divided into 63 patients. In the first group or groups, methotrexate is prescribed 50 mg orally, and then via vaginal misoprostol 800 microgram every 12 hours for two doses. In the second group 800 microgram vaginal misoprostol every 12 hours for two doses prescribed. A transvaginal ultrasound at 24 hours was performed to check for uterine evacuation Results:.Complete uterine evacuation occurred in 68.2% for the experimental group and 52.4% for the control group, AMEU was performed in six patients (9.5%) for the experimental group and eleven patients (19.1%) for the control group and LUI was performed in fourteen patients (22.2%) for the experimental group and nineteen patients (30.1%) for the control group, not a complete uterine evacuation with clinical therapy. For the most common side effects observed are pelvic pain 31.7%, increased vaginal bleeding 26.2% and nausea11.1%.Item Estudio comparativo de las características del aborto entre mujeres adultas y adolescentes en el Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, Cuenca-Ecuador, 2008(2010) Narváez Bahamonde, Patricio Xavier; Neira Peralta, Andrés Patricio; Vega Crespo, Bernardo José; Mosquera Vallejo, Lorena ElizabethThis research revised the issue of abortion, and made a comparative study of the features that surround it, to be presented in adolescents and adults. Was included in the study, the frequency of presentation, background characteristics such as gynecological - obstetric, treatment used and whether or not there complications. Objective: To describe the main differences in the characteristics mentioned, which were presented among adult women and adolescents. Method: A descriptive study, quantitative and observational, based on data collection, we used the database HVCM Statistics Department, and gathered information from patients who were treated in 2008 for diagnosis abortion. These patients were classified in adolescents, those with 10 to 19 years of age and adults those with 20 and older. Results: According to our research, abortion is presented in 22.19% in adolescent females, while adult women represent 77.81% of them. In other words, abortion was more frequent in adult women. Of all abortions presented in adolescents (79.31%) and adults (80.66%), most were incomplete and the second highest frequency of abortions was deferred: adolescents (18.39%), adults (17.5%). In most cases, adult patients (55.41%) and teenagers (78.16%) pregnancies were not planned. Although there are many studies on abortion, there are few that focus on a deeper analysis of the psyche and perceptual, attitudinal, and behavioral changes in post-abortion women. General objective: to know the perceptions, attitudes and sexual behavior in post - labored women attended at the José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital during the period January - December, 2016. Materials and methods: quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional and retrospective study. Surveys were applied and data were collected from women who had an abortion and were attended at the José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital during the year 2016. The information was tabulated in Excel and SPSS. Postoperative sexual perceptions, attitudes and behavior were evaluated. Results: the mean age was 31.8 years, the most frequent group was 36 years or more, 45.5% were married, 71.5% lived in the urban area. They were considered mestizo 96% and Catholic 87.8%. 84.5% worked and 43.1% had a third level of education. The most relevant post-abortion attitude was the indifferent one with 60.2%. Positive perception reached 97.6%, while adequate sexual behavior stood out with 82.9%. Conclusions: 60.2% presented an indifferent attitude.
