Item La colecistectomía laparoscópica en el Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso de Cuenca, 1994-2008(Universidad de Cuenca. Facultad de Ciencias Médicas, 2012-06) Moscoso Toral, Enrique Augusto; Tenezaca Tacuri, Ángel HipólitoLaparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC, Cole-Lap) is the treatment of choice for benign biliary disease, which represents a high incidence in our city and country. In our hospital surgeons in training and teachers have been participated in the development of this technique actively. The goal is share the experience of 14 years of laparoscopic cholecystectomy at the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital. Methods: we present the descriptive and retrospective case series of 2.200 patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy from May 1994 until January 2008. Results: of 2.200 CL, 79% are female. The average age was 43 years with intraoperative diagnosis of chronic cholecystitis in 82%. Complications occurred between major and minor in 38% of which the perforations in gallbladder bile output and bleeding from the cystic artery were the most frequent. Injury to the bile duct occurred in 0.12%. Twenty five percent of one hundred the first surgeries presented complications while thirty four percent of one hundred last surgeries presented complications. The average operating time was 35 minutes in 2008. Discussion: laparoscopic cholecystectomy in our study proves to be a safe and effective procedure in patients with acute or chronic calculous cholecystitis.
