    Análisis de los accidentes de tránsito en la ciudad de Cuenca para los años 2010-2011-2012

    In the traffic engineering, one aspect that deserves special attention from technicians is to prevent traffic accidents on the road system. For the city of Cuenca has research on traffic accidents recorded in the years 2010, 2011, 2012. Road accidents is a public health problem, and to carry out research in the city, has had to rely on police reports that rest on the prosecution of Azuay Province, analyzing all the information described in them, with the objective of identifying the location, type and probable cause that involves an event of this nature. Research will come to find the number of accidents in the city, as well as failed to locate roads, intersections and road sections, where accidents are more recurrent. Timely information from the 3129 accidents recorded in the period of analysts, has allowed the elaboration of distributors frequency tables, histograms and graphs that facilitate the understanding of the problematic of the accidents in the city of Cuenca. A study of police records in Cuenca city and compared with the used files in a country with low numbers of accidents worldwide, allows us to identify the reasons why the provincial authorities don't disclose possible solutions to improve road safety in order to reduce the rate of accidents, mortality and morbidity, which place us in the third Latin American country with highest rates.
