Item Prevalencia de patología obstructiva urinaria en pacientes de 20 a 80 años mediante tomografía computarizada en el Hospital de Especialidades José Carrasco Arteaga, Cuenca. Enero 2019 - septiembre 2021.(Universidad de Cuenca, 2023-09-06) Asmal Morocho, Isaac Antonio; Salazar Alvarado, Xavier MiguelBackground: Urinary tract diseases are among the 10 leading causes of death worldwide, and obstruction are the most common pathology of the urinary tract; early diagnosis prevents complications and computed tomography is one of the imaging tests used for this purpose. Objective: To determine the prevalence of obstructive uropathy using computed tomography at José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital in the city of Cuenca from January 2019 to September 2021. Methodology: This study was descriptive, retrospective and cross-sectional; database provided by José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital was analyzed by applying variables through data collection forms and digital processing using the IBM SPSS Statistics v26 software. Results: 2071 urotomography reports were examined, evidencing urinary tract obstruction in 647 patients (31.2%); men accounted for 377 cases (58.3%). The most prevalent age range was 50-64 years in 239 patients (36.9%). Lithiasis was the cause of obstruction in 355 cases (54.9%). The location of the obstruction was the kidney in 322 cases (49.8%), with the right lateral wall of the urinary tract being the most prevalent with 248 cases (38.3%). Conclusions: Obstructive uropathy is much more common in males, lithiasis is the most common cause of obstruction, and the kidney is the most affected organ as well as the right lateral wall of the urinary tract.
