Item Percepción de la capacidad de autocuidado del Adulto Mayor del Centro de Promoción Activa del IESS-Cuenca-2014(2015) Alvear Idrovo, Ruth Magdalena; Cabrera Cárdenas, Carmen Lucía; Mosquera Vallejo, Lorena ElizabethIn Ecuador it has very little data on the behavior of the perception of self-care ability among elderly; being considered this vulnerable population group has also demonstrated the relationship between self-care ability and quality of Senior`s life. Subjet: To establish the perception of self-care ability of elderly Active Promotion Center IESS-Cuenca-2014. Methodology: The study was descriptive type in which 120 patients of whom 65% were women, surveyed the technique used was a survey; the instrument was CYPAC TEST-AM.1. As summary statistics for quantitative data descriptive statistics as frequencies and percentages were used. For qualitative data the relative frequency (%) was used to summarize the performance thereof. RESULTS.- The research results show that 30% of older adults studied the perception of self-care ability was poor; areas with better performance (adequate self-care) among older adults are controlling addictions (80, 0%), physical activity (65.8%) and control of medication (64.2%). While the results were worse control rest and sleep and control of elimination, where over 40% of the sample presented a perception of inadequate self. Conclusions.- The results indicate a potential deficit in self-care of seniors surveyed, suggesting the need to extend this study to other nursing homes in the city and the country, also shows a clear correlation between sex, level of education and perception of self.
