Materials andMethods: We performed a cross-sectional studyin pregnant womenbetween 20and 34weeks gestationin 2012. Patients weresequentiallyassignedto meet the criteriafor inclusion and exclusion. Cervical lengthand the presence ornot ofembudizaciónwere measured withtransvaginal ultrasound andother datawere obtained fromthe clinical recordsanddirect interviewbeingtranscribedto a questionnaire, which wereprocessedwithSPSSsoftwareandMicrosoftExel. Results:The prevalenceof preterm birthswas12.06%. The prevalenceofcervicalshorteningwas 14%, with 4.5%ofembudización. Among therisk factorsassociated withpreterm birthare shownwith statistical significance: shortening of thecervix, cervicalembudización, education and a historyof preterm delivery. Conclusions: Thestudygroupof 506womenwhose gestational agewas 20 weeksminimummaximumof 34.6withan average of30.14. Theloweragewas 16years and thetop42,with an average of24.18. The prevalenceof preterm birthswas12.06%. The prevalenceofcervicalshorteningwas 14% and 4.5%embudización. Among therisk factorsassociated withpreterm birthare shownwith statistical significance: shortening of thecervix, cervicalembudización, education and a historyof preterm delivery.
