    Valoración del bajo peso, sobrepeso y obesidad de los niños/niñas de la Escuela Ramón Borrero de la parroquia El Valle cantón Cuenca 2010-2011

    OBJECTIVE: To determine the low weight, overweight and obesity in children in the School "Ramón Borrero" of the Parish The Valle of the Canton Cuenca 2010 - 2011. METHOD AND MATERIALS: a descriptive study of prevalence, which valued the weight, overweight and obesity in children. The universe was 234 children, with a finite sample of 76 children, which were randomly selected, 11 children by each parallel, counting from the second to seventh basic (7 parallel). For the lifting of the data was conducted the Weight Control and Height, in each classroom, the same that we place and we greatly appreciate the percentiles of M.S. P. (Ministry of Public Health), then estimate the I. M. C (Body Mass Index) on the basis of their formula: peso Kg/ talla m2, data that is related to the percentiles of I. M. C according to the NCHS (Centro Nacional de Estadísticas de Salud). RESULTS: The 32.55 % of the children at the school presented low weight, 47.44 competitive kilometers % normal weight, the 18.38 % overweight, and the 1.61 % obesity. CONCLUSIONS: According to the results of the investigation, it is concluded that nutritional problems found in children are directly related to the socio-economic conditions low, with the deterioration of the quality of life
