Background: deep vein thrombosis is the formation of the thrombus in the vascular wall of a deep vein. Its frequency is 80-180 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. It usually presents with pain, edema and cyanosis. The diagnosis can be confirmed by: Ddimer, doppler ultrasound, phlebography, magnetic resonance and computerized axial tomography. The anticoagulants are used as treatment with compression stockings. Objectives: to determine clinical features, complementary examinations and treatment of deep vein thrombosis. Methods: it is a cross-sectional descriptive study. Its sample was 169 clinical records of patients with deep vein thrombosis from the vascular surgery service at the "José Carrasco Arteaga" Hospital during 2019; this information was tabulated and analyzed by means of the SPSS version 23 programs according to the variables studied; the results obtained were expressed by means of frequency and percentage tables with their respective analysis. Results: the mean age was 63.07 years old, female sex predominated (56.8%); the most frequent symptoms and signs: unilateral edema (92.3%) and pain (75.7%). The usual location was proximal (60.9%). The most used diagnostic imaging method was doppler ultrasound (99.4%), D-dimer was performed in 45.6%. As initial treatment, enoxaparin was used (97.6%), accompanied by compression stockings (68.6%). No surgical treatment was performed. Conclusion: patients with deep vein thrombosis, attended at José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital in 2019, were mostly women, with unilateral edema; the most used diagnostic method was Doppler ultrasound and the main treatment was enoxaparin.
