Item Diseño a nivel de anteproyecto para el Mercado Artesanal San Rafael de la Laguna, utilizando elementos constructivos a base de fibras vegetales de totora unidas con medios mecánicos(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-03-28) Zabala Rodas, José Mateo; Zabala Rodas, Mateo Xavier; Hidalgo Cordero, Juan FernandoTotora (Schoenoplectus californicus) is a natural fiber historically utilized by various communities in the construction of objects, boats, crafts, cabins, among other applications. Despite its traditional use in crafts, current demand has declined, leading to a gradual loss of harvesting activities. This research aims to address the innovative use of totora as a construction material applied in the design of a marketing module for the community of San Rafael de la Laguna, Imbabura, Ecuador. The methodology focuses on studying the physical-mechanical behavior through tests on pressed totora prototypes, obtaining comparative technical data against wood standards and similar studies. The prototypes exhibit resistance applied to bending and compression, emphasizing the efficiency in the separation of presses. Practical recommendations, such as the use of adhesives and the application of greater torque force, are suggested to enhance its strength. The project not only aims to design an innovative market but also to rescue the artisanal tradition and promote sustainable construction practices in the community. In summary, the thesis proposes a creative and sustainable solution that could have a significant impact on the environmental, economic, and cultural revitalization of San Rafael.
