    BACKGROUND: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is considered the main cause of cervical cancer, the most important high-risk genotypes are HPV16 and HPV18. OBJECTIVE: To determine the frequency of high-risk genotypes of the human papillomavirus by polymerase chain reaction in female patients of Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital. Cuenca 2018. METHODOLOGY: Study observational descriptive and cross-sectional for the determination of the frequency of high-risk genotypes of the human papillomavirus by polymerase chain reaction in female patients at Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital. CONCLUSION: According to the data obtained, it was evidenced that in female patients of the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital, infection with the human papillomavirus has a high frequency, which is why it represents a public health problem.
