Item La figura de Sócrates desde la obra filosófica de Platón y la histórica de Jenofonte(Universidad de Cuenca, 2023-09-14) Sinchi Mogrovejo, Johmayra Estefanía; Vivar Maldonado, Christian Remigio; Escudero Durán, María LorenaThe aim of this research is to analyze the perspectives of Plato and Xenophon on Socrates. To do so, it focuses on the thoughts and contributions presented by each author in their works, covering various thematic categories such as virtue, wisdom, philosophy, happiness, politics, and education, among others. While Plato portrays Socrates as a philosophical figure, Xenophon presents him from a historical perspective. It is concluded that both perspectives are fundamental to comprehend Socrates' personality, thoughts, and philosophy. Therefore, Plato sees him as a philosopher committed to truth and virtue, while Xenophon portrays him as a practical example of virtuous living. Their works, the Apologies, present different approaches to the trial and death of Socrates, highlighting the defense of philosophy and his moral behavior. In order to conduct this research, a methodology based on bibliographic documentary study is employed, along with a comparative analysis involving the review and interpretation of the authors' different works. However, it is important to highlight that the purpose of this document is not to adopt a definite stance regarding the assumptions supporting each of these perspectives on Socrates' thinking, but rather to demonstrate how both authors position Socrates within history.
