A proposal for the implementation and strengthening of public policies from the perspective of rights and social inclusion with a Social Work perspective, aimed to the protection of the elderly, by determining the socioeconomic and family profile of this population, systemically recognizing their needs and expectations. Developing these policies poses major challenges, especially because the older adults are a priority focus group, whose needs, due to the aging process itself, need to be satisfied in an adequate and timely manner, in order to not live in precarious conditions. The objective of this research is to determine the socioeconomic and family profile of the adults and older adults who attend the day gerontological centers of Amaluza, Jurupillos, Las Palmas and La Unión, of the canton of Sevilla de Oro, in the period 2019-2020, to the strengthening of local public policy, aimed at promoting and building equity, inclusion, and protection of their rights. For this purpose, a quantitative methodological process was applied, through a socioeconomic and family survey to older adults enrolled in gerontological centers, this being a universal registry that favored the construction of a baseline, as a tool for improving the diagnosis, design and evaluation of social public policy. A critical diagnosis of adults and elderly women about their complex reality is presented; among the main findings are those related to their low income; with their limited access to social security and solid support networks, both family and social; in addition, their perceptions about the present and future. Finally, some guidelines are proposed for the implementation and strengthening of local public policies in favor of the elderly, recognizing them as a real population, in an essentially rural territory.
