    Supervivencia de pacientes con diagnóstico de cáncer cérvix, estadios clínicos IIB-IIIA-IIIB. SOLCA – Cuenca. 2009 - 2013

    Background: The cervical cancer is considered a public health problem worldwide. In 2018, in Ecuador 1,612 new cases and 838 deaths due to this pathology were reported. Objective: to determine the survival of patients diagnosed with cervical cancer in clinical stages IIB-IIIA-IIIB which were treated at the SOLCA Cancer Institute - Cuenca, between January 2009 and December 2013. Materials and Methods: retrospective, observational, analytical study of survival; performed with the women clinical histories with histopathological diagnosis of cervical cancer, clinical stages IIB-IIIA-IIIB, diagnosed and treated in SOLCA - Cuenca from January 2009 to December 2013. The information was collected with a form created for the investigation; then database was made in the SPSS program, v23. The survival estimation was performed using the Kaplan - Meier method. Results: A total of 153 cases of cervical cancer with clinical stages IIB, IIIA, IIIB were analyzed. The mean age of patients was 57.1 years. The overall median survival was 57.6 months. According to the histopathological type, the median survival was 58.2 months for epidermoid carcinoma and 50 months for adenocarcinoma, (p = 0.045). According to the clinical study, the median survival was 58.4 months for the IIB and 56.3 months for the IIIB, (p = 0.45). Conclusions: The age and sociodemographic characteristics were similar to the literature reported; however, the overall mean survival and according to the histopathological type and clinical study was higher than previous studies.
