Item Diseño y análisis por desempeño de una estructura de acero con disipadores histeréticos metálicos(2016) Villavicencio Astudillo, David Ricardo; Zúñiga Galarza, Pablo Hernán; Flores Solano, Francisco XavierThe objective of a structural design when a building is subjected to a seismic load is to dissipate the energy that enters so that the structure does not collapse after the event. In a conventional design, the energy dissipation is located mainly in the beams, walls and sometimes in the columns of the building. However, this dissipation results in damage to these elements, which can lead to the demolition of the structure after a major event. This research seeks to avoid damage to the structural elements through the incorporation of dissipating seismic systems such as the hysteretics dampers type TADAS, which will capture all the induced energy to the structure by the seism and could be easily replaced after a seismic event. The design was performed on an eight level structure without dissipators, using common methods such as static and dynamic linear modal spectral analysis. After that, the design of the structure was performed including dampers where the modeling of the TADAS dampers was performed and also a static linear, dynamic modal spectral and time-history analysis was made. The time-history analysis was based off three seismic records obtained in the Ecuadorian earthquake that took place on April 16 of 2016. Finally, a performance analysis to the structure with dampers was performed. This allowed us to check the damage that the structure would suffer after an event of great magnitude. The highest design seism for the 3 analysis records was obtained and it was proven that the inelastic drifts are less than the 2% limit imposed by the Ecuadorian Construction Norm of 2015 in the Seismic Danger Resistant Design.
