The present proposal of innovation is located within the field of didactics of mathematics. The purpose of this work is that the children of Fourth year of Basic of the school "Victoria" develop the comprehension of the multiplication, through the use of constructive and playful activities, so that this operation can be used in everyday situations. For this purpose, a diagnosis was made based on the use of different information collection techniques, such as: interview to the teacher, observation of two mathematics’ classes and a pedagogical test. The results showed that children present difficulties in the representation of multiplicative models (linear, group and geometric); differentiation between sum and multiplication in problem solving and justification of the use of mathematical processes in solving problems. Based on this, an innovative proposal is presented from a constructivist vision, which seeks to improve teaching - learning of multiplication, based on constructive and playful activities such as: games, stories, use of teaching materials, group problem solving and individual and others. In addition, this work searches to involve children in the learning of multiplication and that they can relate what has been learned in the classroom with their daily lives.
