    Prevalencia y características de la pancreatitis aguda biliar en los pacientes del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso 2014-2017

    Objective: to identify the prevalence and characteristics of acute biliary pancreatitis in patients at the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital in the period 2014-2017 in Cuenca city.Methodology: it is a descriptive study with a sample of 207 clinical records of patients diagnosed with acute biliary pancreatitis (ABP) in the services of the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital (HVCM), in the period 2014-2017. The information was collected in a form prepared by the authors and analyzed with the SPSS version 19.0 program through frequency distributions, percentages and means.Results: the prevalence of BAP was 2.11 cases per 1i000 patients attended in the clinical, emergency and surgery services. The 79.7% presented a mild complication, 15.9% moderately severe, and 4.3% severe. A total of 99% of patients have abdominal pain. The most frequent local complication with 11.1%, was the acute liquid collection. The 17.9% presented organ failure, 12.6% was transitory and 5.3% persistent. The 94.7% required surgical management, in 100% of cases clinical treatment was used. The 98.06% of patients showed improvement, 0.96% complications and 0.96% died.Conclusions: the results obtained show that the prevalence of BAP in the HVCM is 2.11 cases per 1i000 patients attended, predominantly female, abdominal pain was the most frequent symptom, clinical management was used in all cases and the surgical in 94.7%.

    Prevalencia y características del tratamiento de la pancreatitis aguda biliar, en el Hospital “Vicente Corral Moscoso”, período enero 2014 – diciembre 2017, Cuenca

    Background: acute pancreatitis presents an overall incidence between 15 to 80 cases per year for every 100,000 adults, depending on the geographical area, with biliary origin being the most common. Latin America reports an incidence of 15.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Objective: to determine the prevalence and characteristics of the treatment of acute biliary pancreatitis in the Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, from January 2014 to December 2017. Methodology: it is a descriptive-retrospective study, with 207 clinical files of patients with diagnosis of acute biliary pancreatitis in the internal medicine, emergency and surgery services of the Hospital "Vicente Corral Moscoso" of the city of Cuenca, in the period 2014-2017. The data was analyzed with SPSS version 19.0. Results: the patients were predominantly women, and under 38 years of age. The main symptoms were abdominal pain, followed by nausea and vomiting, many patients had more than one symptom. Local and systemic complications were infrequent. Most patients did not present organic failure, and those that had some type were mainly transient. Conclusions: the prevalence of PAB in the Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, from 2014 to 2017 was 0.21%, with a rate of 2.11 cases per 1000 attended in clinic and surgery. Clinical and surgical treatment were the most used, blood volume repair and most required enteral nutritional support. For the management of pain, a combination of analgesics was used mainly.
