Percepciones de Estudiantes de Bachillerato sobre la Escritura Expresiva y el estrés
(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-05-28) Verdugo Coronel, Christian Gabriel; Argudo Serrano, Juanita Catalina
This paper analyzes the impact of expressive writing on the perception of academic stress among senior high school students. The justification for this study lies in the growing concern about the effects of academic stress on students' academic performance and overall well-being. The objectives were to identify the key factors that induce stress in students and to evaluate the effectiveness of expressive writing as a stress management strategy in their daily lives. The methodology employed was a mixed-methods approach, combining both qualitative and quantitative tools, including surveys and focus groups. The sample consisted of 20 senior high school students from in a private educational institution in Cuenca. Data analysis was performed using Mann-Whitney and Wilcoxon tests, with the Jamovi software for statistical analysis. The results indicate that expressive writing has a positive impact on reducing academic stress. Students perceive this technique as a helpful tool for emotional management and overall well-being. The study highlights the relevance of stress management practices in educational settings and the importance of incorporating such strategies into school curriculums. In conclusion, the paper demonstrates that expressive writing is an effective and simple strategy for alleviating academic stress. This suggests that including expressive writing practices in educational programs could promote healthier academic environments and improve students' performance and learning processes.
