    Calidad de vida de los adultos mayores con hipertensión arterial que acuden al Hospital Militar III de “Tarqui” “Mayor Dr. Alberto Alvarado G”. Durante el periodo septiembre - junio. 2024 Cuenca – Ecuador

    Background: High blood pressure constitutes one of the main public health problems and its association with quality of life has become an important criterion, because, as older people age, they experience the loss of certain physical and mental abilities. Psychological factors that influence their well-being. Furthermore, certain sociodemographic factors significantly influence the well-being of older adults. Objective: Determine the quality of life of older adults with high blood pressure who attended the outpatient clinic of the Military Hospital III DE “Tarqui” “Mayor Dr. Alberto Alvarado G”, during the period September 2023 - June 2024, Cuenca -Ecuador. Methods: A quantitative, analytical, cross-sectional investigation was carried out in a sample of 69 patients. The SF-36 scale was applied, in addition to a section for sociodemographic factors. To analyze the relationship between quality of life and the proposed factors, the OR was obtained with its 95% confidence interval and significance level of p < 0.05 using Chi square. Results: A good quality of life was reported in 73.9%, being more prevalent in men and establishing a significant relationship with educational level. Conclusions: The quality of life of hypertensive older adults is significantly influenced by their educational level. These findings suggest that improving access to education could be key to raising the quality of life in this population.
