    Síndrome de fragilidad del adulto mayor (00257), en el Asilo Rosa Elvira de León, Azogues 2018

    Background: the geriatric syndromes are not easily confined problems in the known classic diseases, the fragility syndrome presents multiple characteristics such as weight loss, fatigue, weakness, loss of activity, slow motor performance, loss of balance and gait, potential cognitive components. Objective: identify the frailty syndrome of the elderly in the users of the nursing home Rosa Elvira de León, Azogues 2018. Method and Materials: a descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out. The universe consisted of 60 seniors from the Rosa Elvira de León nursing home. A structured survey was applied, validated with a pilot test. For data analysis, the SPSS 24 program was used and the results were presented through tables and bar graphs, with analysis of frequencies and percentages. Results: adults older than 80 years (63.3%), female sex (78.3%), marital status widowed (58.3%), rural residence (73.3%) and ethnic mixed race (66.7%). The prevalence of frailty syndrome in the elderly is 36.7%. Conclusion: the frailty syndrome of the elderly in the Elderly Elvira de León nursing home is related to the age older than 80 years, the female sex and the low socioeconomic status.
