Cuenca. 2023(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-05-29) Vazquez Zhuzhingo, Emilio Leonardo; Cabrera Velecela, Andrés FelipeBackground: Gender-based violence in migrants has shown an increase in recent years, due to events in countries such as Venezuela and Colombia that have exposed their inhabitants to be victims of rights violations, triggering pathological conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder, leaving sequelae that affect their quality of life. Objective: To determine posttraumatic stress disorder in migrant survivors of gender-based violence in the city of Cuenca-Ecuador during 2023. Methodology: Quantitative, observational, descriptive, crosssectional study. The sample consists of 90 survivors of VBG of both sexes, aged 18 years or older up to 60 years, treated at the Haciendo Panas Foundation during 2023. Data collection was carried out through the application of the sociodemographic record and the Forensic Version of the Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Symptom Severity Scale. The statistical analysis is descriptive using frequencies, percentages, mean, median mode and standard deviation according to the variables. Results: 68.9% of participants presented symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. Gender (p = 0.01) and occupation (p = 0.01) had a statistically significant relationship with PTSD severity. Conclusions: The objectives set out in the study were achieved. It was determined that there is a relationship between PTSD and female gender and that they are employed.
