Tipos de personalidad de los estudiantes de primer año de la Facultad de Psicología
(2018) Cisneros Salinas, Stefania Rocio; Valverde Nivelo, Fabiana Catalina; Cordero Hermida, María Fernanda
The present investigation had as its main objective to describe the types of personality found in Psychology students who attend the first year of studies at the Psychology faculty in Universidad de Cuenca. The approach was a quantitative descriptive type and the instrument used was Cattell’s Personality Factors Test (16PF). For the application, we worked with the whole population, (every first year student), whom were applied said test, this sums up 94 students, divided in three careers: Clinical Psychology, Social Psychology and Educational Psychology. The students range in age between 17 and 20 years old. The results we have obtained show that considering the global punctuations, the types of personality found are mainly Self-control, followed by Tense and Socially Bold. We also describe the types of personality according to the gender of the participants, (75.5% women and 24.5% men). Women show types of personality centered in Self-control, whilst men punctuate high in Tense. Likewise, we have observed the types of personality according to the different careers, where two of the three careers punctuate high in Tense personality, except for Educational Psychology, where we have found that the type of personality that punctuates the highest is Self-control. Finally, the investigation shows that the type of personality of the participants vary according to the ages, therefore we cannot talk about a predominant personality according to the age of the students.
