    Thecommunitydevelopment center Voluntarios Azuay usingtechniques of greenbuilding in Canton Pucara in theprovince of Azuay is a projectthatislocated in a natural environment and aimstoaccommodate 150 universitystudentstoperformvolunteerworkthatbenefittheinhabitants of thesurroundingcommunities. Theoreticalreferences of sustainableconstruction, permaculture and bioconstruction are taken in ordertofindthematerials and constructionsystems more feasiblefortheintervention. Wedecidedto use alternativebuildingsystemssuch as Earthbagconstruction and bamboothatsignificantly reduce theenvironmentalimpact in a rural area. We use criteriasuch as decrease and externalitytostudy a designexercisefrom a differentperspective, to show thatthere are importanttoconsiderwhenmakingsustainableconstruction, beyondthebioclimatic performance and energyefficiencyconsiderations of sustainablebuildings. ItisconcludedthatbyusingtheconstructionsystemslikeEarthbagconstruction and bamboo, themainnegativeexternalities are buildingenergyconsumption and CO2 emissions are significantlyreduced
